Applying different size solutions to paper or textile materials is known as Sizing. Sizing solution is applied to the surface of twisted yarn (cotton, linen, and polyester) during weaving in the textile industry to increase yarn strength and eliminate hairiness.

Some industries produce textile sizing chemicals like adhesives, softeners, binding agents, anti-mildew agents, anti-foaming, and wetting agent for sizing. They are all standard solutions.

Textile Sizing Process:

Before using the yarn for weaving, it is sized with a sizing machine using textile sizing chemicals. The four sections of a sizing device are the beam creel, size box drying, chamber, and winding head. The following is a description of the textile sizing procedure:

  • Pneumatic warping brakes are installed on the beam supports to attach warp beams to a beam basket. It regulates the warp tension by reducing the warp let-off speed by applying sufficient pressure.

  • The brake device can also rapidly stop the beam from rotating due to inertia.

  • Cooked size solution is pumped into the size box, and application rollers apply the size solution to the yarn. During size application, it's critical to keep the size box's temperature and the yarn's tension under control.

  • The sized yarns are subsequently sent through a series of steamrolls in the drying chamber. The yarn should make good contact with the steamroll surface for a satisfactory drying result.

  • The yarn separation rolls at the front end of the machine divide the warp sheet into individual strands to wound the yarn onto the beam in a regular pattern.

  • The Reed adjusts the width of the warp being wound onto the beam, while the press rollers control the warp density, allowing more yarn to be wound onto it. A stamping device is used to mark the length of the warp. During weaving, this mark assists the operator in cutting the continuous fabric into rolls of the desired size.

  • The machine's front end's control panel may regulate process parameters such as winding speed and tension, moisture level, Creole tension, drying temperature, and size.
